Ashburnham's beautiful setting, space and prayerful atmosphere provide a safe, encouraging place for everyone to share new things together. I love to see people grow in confidence and friendship on the writing holidays I lead and beautiful Ashburnham always provides a safe, encouraging place for people to produce more than they thought possible. It’s a delight to watch the Holy Spirit at work within all the creativity, how He brings something different and often unexpected each time and to each individual.

My themed morning workshops use pictures, words and music to inspire you.
No writing experience is necessary, only something to write with and on, plus your willingness to have a go.
Afternoons are free to write, read, walk, chat, pray, doze, then everyone shares some of that day’s work in a small group before dinner.
There’s plenty of time to laugh and relax over meals and during some DIY entertainment in the evenings, and we spend time in worship too.
Nigel and Julie Cameron joined John and myself on both of the 2019 writing breaks at Ashburnham, and have continued to make subsequent ones very special . They too love Ashburnham and we are delighted that they are able to be with us, helping in so many ways, on these other breaks that are planned.
Extremely talented, classically trained musicians, they often give us a concert with a Celtic theme, as well as leading some outstanding worship, playing to inspire our writing, telling lots of amazing stories and generally acting as their Spirit-filled, inspiring selves.
